Our Most Popular Tour – The Golden Time on the Water

There’s a moment in the evening when everything softens.

The wind settles.
The birds shift.
The water turns to glass.

That’s when we launch.

Our Sunset Lake Explorer paddle takes you through the still-water creek toward The Forks, and out into the open lagoon just as the sky begins its quiet show. The dunes catch the last light. Eagles cross in silhouette. The lagoon reflects it all.

It’s calm — but never dull.
Peaceful — but full of life.

This is where the “ahh” lives.

Some sunsets you watch from shore.

This one, you experience as you float inside it.

Magic.

The Real Magic? Your Guide.

Each tour is led by either Heather or Jarrod, the owners of Nature Space — and whichever one you get, you’re in exceptionally capable hands.

Heather is a veterinarian and ecologist who blends science, storytelling, and wild curiosity. You’ll see birds, fish, and landscapes through an entirely new lens — without it ever feeling like a lecture.

Jarrod is a former provincial oyster biologist and a world-class sea kayaker. He brings deep marine knowledge, serious paddling expertise, and a calm confidence on the water that makes everyone feel like a natural.

Different flavour. Same world-class experience.

There are lots of kayaking tours out there.
There are not lots of tours led by people with this depth of knowledge and experience.

This 1.5 hour tour explores this hidden gem in the Natural Capital of PEI

What to Expect:

  • Calm, protected waters on St. Peter’s Lake (an ocean lagoon with minimal wind exposure)

  • Kayak dock and launcher to allow for an accessible launch

  • Immaculately maintained boats, equipment and gear. We use Current Design boats, NRS PFD’s and Nimbus paddles.

  • A relaxed 1.5-hour paddle, perfectly timed with the golden hour

  • Beginner-friendly pace — no experience needed

  • Wildlife often active in the transition between day and night

  • Interpretation of the ecology and history of what was once the capital region of PEI — now known as the Island’s Natural Capital

  • Small groups (max group size of 8 people)

We meet at Nature Space Resort & Retreat Centre (check in at the reception yurt by the parking lot). Washrooms are available. We’ll fit you with your kayak and safety gear, and offer a concise safety briefing and instruction session. We then ease onto the water before the light begins to change.

Cancellation Policy

Kayak tours can be canceled 30 days prior to the tour for a full refund of your deposit, or 8-29 days for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of the tour are non-refundable and the entire cost of the tour is billed at that time to your credit card.

With respect to weather, we watch the forecasts closely and will be in communication if anything needs to change based on the weather. We will still go for a paddle in overcast conditions or with light showers/drizzle. If it’s heavy rain or heavy wind, we will cancel the tour.  We typically make weather decisions ~24 hours prior to the tour, as the weather can change at the last minute. If we need to cancel due to weather, we will fully refund your tour deposit. If you choose not to attend based on weather that we deem to be safe/reasonable for the tour, you will be billed for the full cost of the tour.

If you do not show up or show up late after the tour has departed, you will be billed for the full value of the tour.
