he Experience
This experience departs right from our private dock here at Nature Space Resort and is facilitated by local oyster expert and owner of the resort Jarrod (the past provincial oyster biologist for PEI).
We start with a safety briefing on shore and get outfitted with kayak & safety gear. This paddle will start in the calm and protected waters of St. Peter’s Lake, which is an ocean lagoon that feeds into the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
This area has been identified by Nature Canada as an Important Bird Area (IBA) due to the diversity of birdlife an is also home to an endangered species, the piping plover.
We will learn about the local ecosystem as well as how to walk gently in this area to not disturb these beautiful little shorebirds.
After immersing in nature we will land on a secluded beach where you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs and walk along this beautiful little estuary to the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
When you return from your walk Jarrod will be waiting for you with a spread of Oysters Three Ways. You will sample fresh oysters and have them shucked on the beach. After trying raw oysters, you will try grilled oysters on the open coals and finish off with a Grilled Oyster Casino that will open your eyes to new possibilities.
You will also have an opportunity to learn how to shuck an oyster (optional). This experience is approximately 3 hours in length and will be hands-on, educational and interactive.

Tours may be cancelled due to insufficient participant numbers or if management determines the weather to be inclement. If the resort cancels the experience you will be provided with full refund.
Cancellation Policy
Kayak tours can be canceled 30 days prior to the tour for a full refund of your deposit, or 8-29 days for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of the tour are non-refundable and the entire cost of the tour is billed at that time to your credit card.
With respect to weather, we watch the forecasts closely and will be in communication if anything needs to change based on the weather. We will still go for a paddle in overcast conditions or with light showers/drizzle. If it’s heavy rain or heavy wind, we will cancel the tour. We typically make weather decisions ~24 hours prior to the tour, as the weather can change at the last minute. If we need to cancel due to weather, we will fully refund your tour deposit. If you choose not to attend based on weather that we deem to be safe/reasonable for the tour, you will be billed for the full cost of the tour.
If you do not show up or show up late after the tour has departed, you will be billed for the full value of the tour.
