Oysters on the Beach

This isn’t just a paddle.
And it’s not just an oyster tasting.

It’s an experience that unfolds slowly, naturally, and in the best possible way.

We begin on the water, exploring the calmness and wildlife on St. Peters Lake, where the lagoon opens to the ocean.

Then we land somewhere you wouldn’t find on your own.

A quiet, secluded beach.
A fire built right on the sand.
Time to settle in, and then the authentic tastes of PEI!

Magic!

Learn to Shuck Oysters in a Spectacular Setting

The Experience

This experience is led by Jarrod, Nature Space owner, former provincial oyster biologist and world-class sea kayaker.

It’s not a scripted tasting or a step-by-step lesson.

It’s a natural, engaging introduction to oysters in the place they come from, shaped by the water, the landscape, and the people who know them best.

You’ll learn how oysters are grown. What influences their flavour. And why Prince Edward Island has earned its reputation for producing some of the most sought-after oysters anywhere.

You’ll have the chance to shuck your own (if you’d like), understand what you’re tasting, and experience oysters in a way that feels connected to place, not just plated.

We depart directly from the private dock at Nature Space Resort onto the calm, protected waters of St. Peter’s Lake, an ocean lagoon that opens into the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

As we paddle, Jarrod will share insights into the surrounding ecosystem, from the rich marine environment beneath you to the birdlife above. This area has been recognized by Nature Canada as an Important Bird Area, and is home to species like the endangered Piping Plover. You’ll learn how to move through this space with awareness and respect, without interrupting what makes it so special.

After time on the water, we land on a secluded beach.

There’s space here to wander, to walk the shoreline, stretch your legs, and take in the meeting point of estuary and open ocean.

When you return, the next part of the experience is waiting.

Jarrod will have prepared a selection of oysters served three ways, each one highlighting something different. You’ll start with fresh oysters, then move to oysters grilled over open coals, finishing with a rich, savoury grilled oyster that shows just how versatile they can be.

You’re welcome to simply enjoy or step in and learn to shuck your own.

No pressure. Just opportunity.
