Kayak & Nature Club

Nature Space Resort & Cloud 9 Adventures are collaborating to bring Kayak & Nature Club for the summer of 2026 for kids aged 8-15!

All programming happens at Nature Space and launch right from our private dock.

This year, kayak club will be led by the resort owners Heather and Jarrod, with Finlay as a junior guide. Heather blends science, storytelling, and wild curiosity. You’ll see birds, fish, and landscapes through an entirely new lens — without it ever feeling like a lecture. Jarrod brings deep marine knowledge, and a calm confidence that makes everyone feel like a natural.

Both are certified Paddle Canada Instructors. Participants will have the ability to gain a National Kayaking Certification through Paddle Canada. There are lots of kids camps out there. There are not a lot of experiences like this led by people with this depth of knowledge and passion!

The sessions will run for a week at a time with 2.5 hour sessions each day (in mornings). If you have siblings and wish to combine in the same class, please reach out via e-mail and we can discuss this possibility and assess feasibility.

We have created 2 different age categories to ensure the best environment for development and fun, as well as have groups of similar strength and endurance.

Age categories are:

Kids Kayak Club (Ages 8-11) – July 6-10, 2026

Teen Kayak Club (Ages 12-15) – July 20-24, 2026

Here is what the itinerary for our programs works...

All of our programs run for an entire week and are morning programs from 9:00am to 11:30am from Monday to Friday

Day 1

Introductions, Kayak Safety, Learn about gear and how it works and required safety equipment. We will get on the water and do basic water safety

Day 2

Start the day with water safety again and then start with on-water safety & rescue techniques and water comfort games. Students will begin to learn about the local ecosystem.

Day 3

Students will begin to learn about stroke techniques and boat control. We will use games to encourage learning and understanding of key skills

Day 4

The forth day will allow us to start to integrate skills learned on the first 3 days. We will start to explore further using our skills. Students will also start to learn nature interpretation & basic earth sciences

Day 5

Day 5 is our explorers day! We will set out to explore further and test our endurance and review any required paddling skills. By exploring further we will be able to explore new ecosystems and learn about more creatures and plants that call this diverse ocean lagoon home.

Kids Kayak Club (ages 8-11)

This program is designed for kids aged 8-11 and is limited to 6 students per session.

This kayak program happens over a 5 day period and is designed to be the first introduction to kayaking for children aged 8-9. Each session is 2.5 hours/day to help build confidence, learn water safety and focused on fun for new paddlers. The objective of Kids Kayak Club is to introduce and improve paddling skills, through drills, games, exploration & fun. This program also includes education and introduction to nature interpretation and earth sciences. This program includes the cost of instruction, programming, kayak, paddle and gear rental.

Meet new friends and learn in a fun environment
Students that successfully compete Kayak Kids Club will be eligible to receive a nationally recognized Paddle Canada Waterfront Kayak Skills Certification
Parents have access to the trails at Nature Space Resort if they choose to wait on-site with their children

Teen Kayak Club (ages 12-15)

Our Teen Kayaker Club is focused on youth aged 12-15 and is limited to 6 students per session.. Each day is 2.5 hours long to help build endurance and allow for progression in skill development. This is a great opportunity to get on the water with peers, learning paddling skills, leadership techniques and valuable practical on water knowledge. They will learn kayak skills including basic stokes, wet exits, intro to balancing and bracing and kayak journeying.

Teen Kayakers spend 5 days learning kayak skills, rescue skills and water & ocean awareness and safety
Marine navigation skills including introduction to navigation and introduction to weather.
Learn in a “hands-on” approach to nature interpretation, ecosystems and basic earth sciences
Meet new friends and learn in a fun environment
Students that successfully complete Teen Kayak Club will receive a nationally recognized Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Skills Certification
Parents have access to the trails at Nature Space Resort if they choose to wait on-site with their children

All dates run from Monday to Friday from 9am – 11:30am

Cancellation Policy:

Kayak camp can be canceled 30 days prior to the camp minus a 10% administration fee. Cancellations made 8-29 days are 50% refundable. Cancellations made within 7 days of the camp are non-refundable.

With respect to weather, we watch the forecasts closely and will be in communication if anything needs to change based on the weather. We will still go on the water in overcast conditions or with light showers/drizzle. If it’s heavy rain or heavy wind, we will do land-based adventures. If weather is bad for multiple days, we may need to reschedule/cancel camp days. We typically make weather decisions ~24 hours prior to the tour, as the weather can change at the last minute. If we need to cancel due to weather, we will fully refund lost days. If you choose not to attend based on weather that we deem to be safe/reasonable for the camp, you will be billed for those days.
