Forest Bathing

Our forest bathing walks aren’t woo-woo retreats where you hug a tree and call it a day
(unless you really want to…no judgment).

Think science-meets-storytelling, mindfulness with a side of curiosity, and just enough structure to help you actually slow down.

You’ll notice more.
Breathe deeper without trying too hard.
And leave feeling clearer than when you arrived.

This experience is led by Heather, one of Nature Space’s owners, a veterinarian, ecologist, and lifelong observer of the natural world.

She won’t ask you to “become one with the forest.”

She will help you understand what you’re seeing, from how plants and ecosystems function to the small, fascinating details most people pass by.

It’s engaging, grounded, and often unexpectedly eye-opening.

The Experience

This is a 90-minute guided walk through forest and coastal landscape at a relaxed, unhurried pace.

We’ll move slowly and pause often, giving you the chance to experience the environment using all five senses:

  • Sight -noticing patterns, light, and subtle movement
  • Sound – birds, wind, and the quiet layers of the forest
  • Touch – bark, leaves, textures underfoot
  • Smell – earth, resin, salt air drifting in
  • Taste – when conditions allow, we’ll safely explore seasonal foraging finds

Foraging is always respectful and guided, with the opportunity to connect more deeply with the landscape and understand what’s growing around you, not just pass through it.

You might be surprised by how much is there.

“You don’t just walk through the forest, you’ll hear it, touch it, smell it, and sometimes even taste what’s in season. It’s awesome!”

Why Forest Bathing Works (and Why It Feels So Good)

Forest bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, started in Japan and has been studied for decades.

The takeaway? Spending intentional time in nature does real things to your body:

  • Lowers stress hormones
  • Supports immune function
  • Helps regulate heart rate and blood pressure
  • Brings your system back to baseline (in the best way)

It’s now even being prescribed by physicians as a nature-based way to support stress and mental health.

No fluff. Just science doing its thing.

What Makes this Experience Different?

Our forest bathing walks at Nature Space are fully guided experiences that move at a relaxed, unhurried pace.

We’ll walk, pause, notice, and occasionally be still (not for long stretches, but just enough to shift your attention and let the forest do its work).

Along the way, you’ll be guided through a series of short, simple meditations.

Nothing long. Nothing intimidating.
Just practical, easy-to-follow moments you can take with you and use in everyday life.

Think of them as tools, not tasks.

“Most of the practices we use are short, simple, and designed to be taken with you… something you can use on a busy day, not just in the forest. I came away feeling energized, yet calm.”

What’s Included:

  • 60-90 minute guided forest bathing walk with Nature Space’s owner, Heather
  • Guided activities and meditations along the walk
  • Science-based experience with educational opportunities
  • Learn about the local ecology and history of the area

This experience is open to all ages, but tends to resonate most with those 12 and up.

Younger children are welcome, but if they’re more interested in exploring than slowing down, our Night Walk experience is often a better fit (and a lot of fun).

Tours may be cancelled due to insufficient participant numbers or if management determines the weather to be inclement. If the resort cancels the experience you will be provided with full refund.

“I was so impressed by Heather’s knowledge. This didn’t feel ‘woo-woo’ at all! It was an experience that blended science, observation, and real-world understanding of how nature supports human health. I loved it!”

Cancellation Policy

Tours can be cancelled 30 days prior to the tour for a full refund of your deposit, or 8-29 days for a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of the tour are non-refundable and the entire cost of the tour is billed at that time to your credit card.

With respect to weather, we watch the forecasts closely and will be in communication if anything needs to change based on the weather. We will still go in overcast conditions or with light showers/drizzle. If it’s heavy rain or heavy wind, we will cancel the tour.  We typically make weather decisions ~24 hours prior to the tour, as the weather can change at the last minute. If we need to cancel due to weather, we will fully refund your tour deposit. If you choose not to attend based on weather that we deem to be safe/reasonable for the tour, you will be billed for the full cost of the tour.

If you do not show up or show up late after the tour has departed, you will be billed for the full value of the tour.
